Vans Syndicate x Suicidal Tendencies

The Suicidal X Vans Syndicate collaboration grear has been released in Jan 2009, following Vans intent to pay tribute to fundamental bands on their sneakers-gear. Suicidal Tendencies has been bringing their own style to the masses since the early 80′s and has skateboarding street cred to spare.  As a result, Vans has decided to honor the band with their own signature Vans Era model.

The shoe has been released in both blue and black featuring embroidered markings reminiscent of frontman, Mike Muir’s trademark bandanas, as well as lyrics on the inner sole scribbled in classic Suicidal style in addition to 2 matching t-shirts, a hat and a belt.

Bearbrick x Suicidal Tendencies

Hooking up with legendary punk band Suicidal Tendencies, Medicom Toy presented their latest featured artist in the Bearbrick campaign in May 2009. Formed in Southern California in 1981 by Mike Muir, the band has endured over two very interesting decades in the music scene.

Paying tribute to their Venice/Los Angeles area roots, the figure combines a blue base with white contrasting bandana-like print throughout. Figure comes in Medicom Toy’s 400% platform, still available at Bearbrick.com and through Medicom Toy.

New Era x Suicidal Tendencies

Despite its fringe status and the endless rotation of band members, 2 things remained constants the last 3 decades for the band Suicidal Tendencies: the involvement of founder/lead singer/song writer Mike Muir through all its incarnations and its impact being as one of first band to cross elements of metal rock and punk music.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of of its debut/self titled album released in 1983, New Era in collaboration with MedicomToy created a limited run of its 59FIFTY caps.  Each features the band’s name as classic logo and SUICIDAL writing right under the hat's brim, like the classic OG Flip-Up hats that have been the band's trademark forever.

Presented at the 2008 Medicom Toy convention, the first test press were the black on black and black on white logo hats.

Classic black with white logo has then been released along with the first two later in 2008 and a variation with neon coloring was released in April 2009. All hats were produced in a very limited run.
A later collaboration with snowboard brand 686, took New Era back at work with ST to release a very unique limited edition of an unique mesh hat. Check the 686 collab link for all the info.

686 x Suicidal Tendencies

Formed in Venice, CA, during the early ’80s, Suicidal Tendencies specialized in vicious hardcore early on — building a huge following among skateboarders, and lending a major hand in the creation of skatepunk — before turning their focus eventually to thrash metal. The influence on the skateboarding and music scene grew too loud for labels to ignore, and their 1983 self-titled debut release quickly became the best-selling hardcore album of its time. Music has always been a major inspiration in the design and innovations of 686 outerwear, especially to 686 Founder and President, Mike West, who grew up in the Southbay of Los Angeles running amuck with his skateboard in hand and ST on his Walkman. Thus, the partnership between Suicidal and 686 was born.

The collaboration between 686 and ST features original artwork from ST albums throughout the garments plus ST-centric detailing on the sleeves and hood. The jacket is 100% poly herringbone denim and mylon oxford, making it a unique mix of technical fabrication and innovative styling. The ST and 686 collection is made up of the 10,000MM/8,000 gm waterproof/breathable snowboarding jacket plus accompanying tees, hoodies and New Era® hat. In the tried and true words of lead singer and founding ST member, Mike Muir, “All you wanted was a bad ass Suicidal/686 partnership, and now it’s your last chance to get it!” Please visit www.686.com for more information.
